The Cedar Gate
Reimagining the member experience through technology
A member app, the screens in the barn, and an office system for the team, built as one experience so every member and guest feels known.
The Cedar Gate is a membership club in Oklahoma built around clay shooting, events, and time on the property.
01The destination
Two goals: enhance the experience of members and every guest on the property, and significantly streamline the team's workload.
02The obstacle
Scores lived on paper cards. Members, events, and renewals were spread across tools that did not talk to each other, and bringing on a new member took hours of manual work.
03The story
The Cedar Gate is a place where people are known. Members should be greeted by name, their scores should follow them from shoot to shoot, and the team should spend its time on people instead of paperwork.
04The experience
We started with an assessment: interviews with the team, a plan for every screen, and a clickable prototype. Then we scoped the first version with the team in one session and built it.
- A member and guest app for iPhone, Android, and the web, with email sign-in and no passwords
- Scan a code in the barn to join a shoot, then score each bird with a tap
- Standings, personal bests, and a history of every round
- Events and RSVPs, including events members host themselves
- A club directory, photo galleries, and each member's profile
- Event screens for the barn TVs with the code to scan
- An office system for members, companies, waivers, renewals, bookings, and new-member onboarding
05The ecosystem
One system underneath it all. The app, the barn screens, and the office share the same information. A member the office adds can sign in right away, an RSVP from a phone lands on the office roster, and scores from the course reach the office, which decides when results go up on the screens. A guest who shoots once has an account and a history, which gives them a reason to come back.
06The impact
The first version was scoped with the team in August and built for the club's September member event. New features roll out as regular updates, shaped by how members and staff use it.
